Many style sites talked about Bollywood star Rekha showing up in her trademark Kanjivaram silk sari for the IIFA Awards Nite in Singapore in June this year.
We from Kanjivaram society salute this graceful diva for showcasing the beauty, dignity and grandeur of the Queen of silks at a star studded event. As recipient of this year’s Lifetime achievement Award at the IIFA Rekha was indeed the cynosure of many eyes, even in the presence of several younger stars.

What we love even more, is that at IIFA 2011, held in Canada, the recipient of the same award was Sharmila Tagore. And well, she too chose to mark the occasion in a gorgeous Kanjivaram pattu sari.
Hope this is a lovely tradition that future awardees will also maintain. Here’s toasting these wonderful women and also toasting Kanjivaram – the birthplace of these beautiful silks.
